The Fluid Head
The K&F Concept Fluid-Director tripod comes with a dual action pan and tilt fluid head for smooth movement. Designed for professional videographers, means this head is super smooth with a controlled action, ideal for following the action no matter the axis of movement. For a custom setup for your specific shoot, the pan and tilt actions both have smooth stepless damping adjustments. On the left of the head is the adjustable turning knob for the tilt drag and the pan drag is a large horizontal rubberised ring, mounted just above the bowl. Both are easily accessible and simple to adjust. For example, if you are shooting a sports type event and you require fast panning and tilting to follow the action, you would set the damping to a minimum. For precise accurate framing like in an interview or a product shoot, a heavy dampening would be best for slow controlled and stable movements. Shuddering, jerking, or shaky movement are a thing of the past with this fluid tripod. When editing your footage, your time should be spent on selecting from a choice of great shots, not cutting around the jerky pan movements due to a sub-standard tripod. On the right of the head is a nice chunky easy to get to, tilt lock knob, and conveniently placed at the back is the pan lock lever. Locking both these is ideal when precise long lens framing is required, for an absolute rock-steady shot. It is always recommended that you lock both when you have a camera mounted and move away from your rig.

This head sits in a stable 75mm bowl with a design that allows you to set the tripod legs on uneven ground and quickly level up your camera, so horizons are straight, and panning is perfectly horizontal. Unlike smaller bowls the 75mm bowls size also allows for sufficient friction to lock the head down easily, as well as comfortably supporting bigger camera rigs and set-ups. To assist with the levelling the bubble spirit level on the head is clear, and accurate and will indicate when the tripod head is level.

The head accommodate cameras up to 10 kilograms, which is far more than you will need with most modern-day camera systems with attached accessories only a fraction of that. If you have a large lens attached to the front of your camera, or an unbalanced system, it can become front heavy causing the camera to tilt down. To assist with the balance of the camera, slide the quick release plate backwards or forwards for near perfect balance. The QRP is large and has a good sliding range of up to 8cm, helping balance most setups. The plate can take a ¼” or a 3/8” screw depending on your gear requirements. Official K&F Concept SA tripods all come with 2 quick release plates. This kit includes 2 plates and 2 of each size screw. This is a huge bonus as these items seem to get misplaced easily, also, really handy if you have two camera bodies, as you don’t need to continuously swap plates. An ingenious feature, on the underside of the tripods top-plate is a magnetized slot that stores the supplied Allen-key wrench. This is really handy to tighten the supplied ¼” and 3/8” screws which have Allen-key hex slots in them. A very convenient and practical option, no longer the need to find a coin to fasten the QRP to your camera.

This clever head also has the option to accept the quick release plates used by the DJI RS2 and RS3 gimbal. So, if you have a gimbal no need to swap plates when moving between your tripod and the gimbal. Leave your camera attached to the QRP and attach it directly to this tripod head. This is super handy and a huge time saving factor when on a professional shoot.

The Tripod Legs
This tripod has 3 stage aluminium legs. Fully extended this tripod can reach a very impressive height of 191,5cm. With your camera secured on top, you can comfortably shoot over a person standing in front of you if required. Ideal in a press-conference and ENG type set-ups. The tripod can comfortably be used with one stage extended, with an additional stage ready to be used should you quickly need to go higher. At full extension, you are assured of a rock-steady platform to shoot from. The flip-lock lever system used to lock and unlock the 3 leg stages, works exceptionally well, with a smooth, firm and fast locking action. After a time, if the leg is not locking firmly, simply use the included Allen Key to simply tighten it up. The legs come with a fixed mid-level spreader. This is the brace that is attached to all three of the tripod’s legs, adding extra stability. The advantage a mid-level spreader has over a ground-spreader, is that it is very forgiving on uneven surfaces, such as in the outdoors and when you on the move. For extra stability, the rubberized feet which pivot freely can adjust to any surface for flat, firm contact.

Follow the Action
The pan bar handle on this video tripod as with all the other components is precision made and fully adjustable to suit your requirements for a particular shoot. The pan bar has an aluminum adjustment ring that allows you to extend or shorten the length of it, unlike similar tripods that just have a fixed length pan bar. If the adjustment ring is loose, the arm is cleverly designed so that the extension handle cannot just slide off and get lost. The leverage gained from extending the pan handle allows for smooth control when panning and tilting actions are made. Another very handy feature is that the pan bar can be mounted on either the left, or right side of the head. Depending on what best suits your operating position and style.

Accessory Point
On the front left side of the head is a very handy accessory point. This is a threaded hole that allows you to attach additional equipment to the video tripod head, a really cool feature. It takes a standard ¼” thread so it can support any accessory using this common thread size. It gives you a place to attach a K&F Magic-Arm or K&F Mini LED Light, or a small monitor. Being mounted on the tripod head means it will always turn/pan with the camera, very convenient and handy.
